Founder, Head Coach
I’m obsessed with clean countertops in my kitchen but my car is a total mess.
Nicole founded CrossFit Roots in 2009 and is a Certified CrossFit Coach (CF-L4), one of a handful worldwide to hold this distinction. She is a wife, Mom of two, and a former Flowmaster for the Level 1 and Level 2 courses. She’s the mastermind behind Project Roots and practices what she preaches by following the Project Roots programming to a tee, even when she doesn’t like the workout;).
I did synchronized swimming for 8 years.
EC is a Certified CrossFit Coach (CF-L4) who specializes in strongman training and nutrition. She was a Flowmaster for Level 1 and Level 2 Certificate Courses working more than 200 seminars worldwide over 10 years. She’s the programmer for Project Roots and is the author behind those elegant workouts. EC brings a level of precision, care, and academia to the art and science of programming that is unmatched in the affiliate world.

I’ve gone 43 days without showering… on a climbing expedition, not in normal society.
Dave Lee is a Certified CrossFit Trainer (CF-L3) and has an extensive background in climbing – both rock and ice – and has built a solid resume of climbing routes spanning Colorado to California to Alaska. He co-writes the Competitor Programming for Project Roots, writes WOD Plans, and coaches many group classes at CrossFit Roots. He’s also the most humble athletic ninja you’ll meet.

My perfect day consists of 5-7 servings of espresso.
Mike Cerbus co-writes the Competitor programming and is the lead for the Olympic Weightlifting training component of the Competitor Add-on. Mike has competed Nationally and Internationally in the sport of Weightlifting for the last 10 years. He has medalled at 3 National Championships and 5 American Open Championships, taking the title in 2011 as American Open Champion. Since 2009 Mike has been instructing all levels across the United States and world. He has a special knack for understanding the Olympic Weightlifting training needs of an athlete focused on GPP. Mike visits us in Boulder, Colorado on occasion and we always cry when he leaves.
The only breakfast I eat is cleaning my kids plates.
Eric a Certified CrossFit Trainer (CF-L3) and opened CrossFit Roots with Nicole in 2008. He has a background in the outdoors and is father to two little girls who he says, “squat better than he does.” He is a full-time coach at CrossFit Roots, has coached over 4,000 classes, and understands that the constant improvements in class efficiency and professionalism are aided by facility maintenance and development. Eric writes WOD Plans for Project Roots and looks for shop projects that give him an excuse to buy a new power tool at Home Depot.

Ali is a Certified CrossFit Trainer (CF-L3) with an M.S. in Clinical Exercise Physiology and a second degree in Attention to Detail. Perhaps one of the most beautiful examples of how taking one class a day can support your life and endeavors, Ali maintains a high capacity in the gym while not letting the gym get in the way of life’s pursuits. A true outdoors woman, she chases her passion for the outdoors through biking, skiing, and backpacking almost every weekend. Ali writes WOD Plans for Project Roots and has taught over 5,000 group classes and private sessions in her six years at CrossFit Roots.
Head Coach, Olympic Weightlifting Club
I once owned two bunnies, they’re just like cats.
Ryan is a Certified CrossFit Trainer (CF-L3) and C.S.C.S. with a USAW Advanced Coach credential. He has a competitive background in Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, and Highland Games. He coaches a variety of group classes including the Vitality program which teaches individuals 60 and over. Ryan is also an accomplished guitarist, including air guitar, which he incorporates into the WOD Plans that he writes.

Trevor is a Certified CrossFit Trainer (CF-L3) with a M.A. in Education from Stanford. He coaches the CrossFit Kids and Teens programs at CrossFit Roots and is a math teacher at the local middle school. He was an officer in the Marines Corps and continues to serve in the reserves. When not working his 12 other jobs, he writes WOD Plans for Project Roots.

Nicole is a Certified CrossFit Coach (CF-L4) who began her CrossFit career 13 years ago. She owned an affiliate for 8 years with her husband Jeremy. She was a Flowmaster for Level 1 and Level 2 Certificate Courses, giving her the opportunity to train athletes and coaches all over the world. She writes WOD plans for Project Roots and she LOVES warmups! She and her husband Jeremy have been married for 18 years and are parents to two wonderful teenagers.
